Infection prevention and control in the SHRINIVASGERIMS teaching hospital.
The Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) leads infection prevention and control in the 905-bed teaching hospital: surveillance, isolation practices, hand hygiene, biomedical waste and outbreak response.
Role
- Healthcare-associated infection surveillance in wards, ICU, OT and emergency
- Antibiotic stewardship support with clinical departments
- Staff immunization and needle-stick protocols
- Training of nurses, doctors, students and housekeeping
- Coordination with microbiology for cultures and resistance patterns
Patients and attendants can help by following visitor rules, hand hygiene and mask guidance posted in wards.
