Institutional Ethics Committee for human research at SHRINIVASGERIMS.
The Institutional Ethics Committee (Ethical Committee) reviews research involving human participants so studies at SHRINIVASGERIMS meet national ethical standards (including ICMR guidelines) before they start.
Role
- Review student, resident and faculty protocols that involve patients, students or community participants
- Assess risk, consent, privacy and vulnerability
- Require modifications or withhold approval where protection is inadequate
- Monitor ongoing studies when required
No human-subject research should begin without ethics approval. Scientific merit is also seen by the Scientific Committee.
